In 2021, ACEM – in collaboration with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA), College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM), the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACCRM), and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) – launched the Diploma of Pre-Hospital and Retrieval Medicine (DipPHRM). To comply with Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011, from 1 Mar 2024, this program has been renamed as Associateship in Pre-Hospital and Retrieval Medicine.
This is an exciting step forward for PHRM in Australasia and offers structured, on-the-job, experiential training program that leads to the Associateship in Pre-Hospital and Retrieval Medicine. The Pre-Hospital and Retrieval Medicine is aimed at appropriately experienced doctors who wish to work within PHRM services and actively participate in missions.
